When I was Five (March 5, 2004)
I thought the boogie man came at exactly midnight. I thought that witches lived under my bed So i had to hit the
lights and leap toward my bed. I thought Santa Claus was real. And a beard made you evil. I thought doggies were
boys and kitties were girls. I thought an evil donkey lived in my closet. and the door to narnia was right behind him. I
wasn't afraid to wear my food. In fact I liked it that way.
When I was 5 I lost a tooth in my rice pudding. I
cried when my mom got a haircut. I believed the Wizard of Oz was real, and wondered how to get to him. I kicked
a boy because I liked him. I met my first best friend. and it lasted til i was 13.
When i was 5 I used to
sing, - all the time. It didn't matter what song, and it didn't matter how loud. I used to tell stories with my
Lego. I built the batcave. I build my house. While I watched the soaps with my mom. I made up chants to make the
bus come sooner, To make the rain start and stop, To talk to elvis.
When I was 5 I thought that if i climbed
real high, I could float to the ground. When I was 5, I didn't. I fell to the ground, -hard. I didn't do it
again. My mom wouldn't let me.
When i was 5, I was me, wholly and completely. No worries, just me. My
experiment, my experience, just me. When i was 5 I was only afraid of the things that didn't exist.
